The Reference Suite of Facts.com consists of four interlinked databases, searchable jointly or independently: Facts on File World News Digest, Issues & Controversies On File, Today's Science on File, and the World Almanac Reference Database consisting of the World Almanac and the World Almanac Encyclopedia. The Reference Suite of Facts.com is an excellent resource for general study, research and reference for both students and the general public. Using Facts.com, students and researchers will quickly and easily get the answers needed in such areas as current events, statistics, health, science and controversial issues.

Facts on File World News Digest:

  • Offering the complete archive of this publication dating back to 1940 and updated weekly, Facts on File World News Digest is interconnected with related content from the other Facts.com databases. It also includes live, hourly updates of headline news from Reuters, the international news service.
  • Special features include maps, photographs, editorial cartoons, historic documents, overviews of key issues, newsmakers and events since 1940, obituaries since 1980, Presidential election highlights from 1940 to 2004 and current listings of world heads of state and government leaders.
  • Search options include title search, phrase search, searching specific sources within Facts on File World News Digest and date-range searching to find articles from a particular period of time.
  • The Need a Research Topic? serves as a starting point for students to use in their research. Topics such as Affirmative Action, Missile Defense and Stem-Cell Research are listed along with links to selected articles covering major developments, links to primary documents, biographies, overview articles and newspaper editorials.

Issues and Controversies on File:

  • Issues & Controversies contains up-to-date, in-depth and objective information on the most prominent and hotly debated issues of the day and presents and enhances the full back file of the publication of Issues & Controversies on File.
  • Quick access links include an alphabetical index to all topics, an issues pro and con section and a subject index.
  • Searchable areas also include an Issues in the Headlines section containing links to pertinent issues such as Bullying, Journalists' Safety and Mine Safety.
  • Special features include Bill of Rights in debate, editorial cartoons and questions, national high school debate topics, newspaper editorials and source documents.
  • The Need a Research Topic? section of Issues & Controversies covers many aspects of controversial issues such as Abortion and Fetal Rights, Antiterrorism, Medical Ethics and Mental Health through the use of articles to allow you to gain a comprehensive picture of the issue and find ideas for your research topic.

Today's Science:

  • Drawing on major scientific journals, magazines and newspapers in the United States and abroad, Today's Science covers topics pertinent to classroom use: health, the environment, earth and space science, and science and society.
  • Besides full-text searching, included in Today's Science is an instant menu access to Science in the Headlines stories, Hot Topics coverage, a comprehensive Subject Index and Archives of the top science topics.
  • Scientific biographies contain special listings by field, Nobel Laureate biographies, and women and black Americans in science.
  • Containing not only articles on current scientific developments, Need a Research Topic? in Today's Science offers guidelines on how to write a scientific research paper.

World Almanac:

  • Containing the complete, cumulative full text of the "World Almanac and Book of Facts" editions since 1999, the World Almanac portion of the Reference Database features frequent updating, links to thousands of informative web sites outside of Facts.com and searchable monthly Cover Stories unique to the database.
  • Other features include Find It Fast! links to the most frequently accessed content, an easily accessible Table of Contents, and the daily "Born This Day," "Did You Know?" and "This Day in History" features.

World Almanac Encyclopedia:

  • The World Almanac Encyclopedia portion of the Reference Database offers more than 22,000 articles contained in "Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia." Monthly revisions and replacement of existing articles keep the database up-to-date.
  • A Special Reports collection of important topics reveal the full story behind the news and specially selected illustrations accompany the Encyclopedia articles.
  • The World Almanac Encyclopedia contains thousands of links directly to content in the World Almanac.
