At the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library we’re glad to have an advisory board of teens with creative minds and lots of ideas to help us out. The main objective of YAAB is to involve teens in the functioning of the library by seeking their creative ideas on programs, services and materials for teens.
- Plan, execute and attend programs
- Publicize teen activities to peers
- Recruit more YAAB members
- Help create an inviting teen atmosphere at the library
- Work with library staff to help with selection of young adult materials
- Design and publish promotional materials for the library
- Promote and encourage reading by young adults
Members of YAAB will help:
The Young Adult Advisory Board is made up of Eau Claire area middle an high school students. Their mission is to promote L. E. Phillips Memorial Public Library to young adults by advising library staff about young adult programs; creating an inviting atmosphere at the library by maintaining a safe, attractive young adult area; promoting ideas in the young adult collection; encouraging reading by young adults; and advocating the rights of young adults.

Bylaws and Application Process
Apply for a seat on the library’s Young Adult Advisory Board you must be a student in grades 6 through 12, have parental permission, and attend monthly meeting, programs and projects. Applicants must fill out an application form containing 3 essay questions and turn in a Membership Objectives and Guidelines form signed by applicant and parent or guardian.
Application materials may be picked up from the Youth Services desk and may be submitted at any time. New members will be invited to join based on their qualifications and when a seat becomes vacant. Call 715-839-5007 for email at
